History Behind iCapture

Online photography clubs have roots dating back to the mid‑19th century with groups like the Amateur Photographic Exchange Club (1861–1863), where enthusiasts shared prints and feedback to build community and refine their craft. As the medium evolved, formal clubs like the Boston Camera Club (founded 1881) and the Royal Photographic Society (since 1853) played a key role in nurturing technical skills, organizing exhibitions, and fostering member interaction. The digital era ushered in platforms like Flickr (launched in 2004), which democratized image sharing and online communities, enabling photographers of all levels to connect globally. Inspired by this legacy, iCapture was created as a modern online club dedicated to photographers submitting into three vibrant categories: nature landscapes, flowers, and food. The platform’s mission is to celebrate creativity and community by offering an accessible space for sharing and discovering inspiring images. Users can upload their photos to the main gallery, where public voting determines standout entries that are featured in the winner's gallery. Overall, iCapture aims to enable artistic growth, provide peer recognition, and bring together a supportive, genre-spanning community, all with the simple joy of capturing and sharing beautiful imagery.
